Before: The ground drops abruptly down from the new house, the sharp angle held in place with a blanket of stone riprap. We removed an now-unused portion of the driveway and re-routed vehicles up to the the new house at the back.

After:  This gave us room to extend the slope at a more natural angle, using enormous boulders to make the transition where existing trees were preserved. The site was then revegetated with plants native to this part of Maine.
